Pep Guardiola gives clear six-word response on whether he would return to Barcelona.

He made 33 Premier League appearances for the club as they finished fifth in the Australian’s first year in charge and is assumed by many to be the leader of the defence.

Having lifted the World Cup in 2022 and being regarded as one of the best centre backs in the world, however, it’s possible he would be keen to play higher than Europa League football.

The 26-year-old’s current deal runs until 2027, meaning Spurs are in no rush to sell, with the north London side also knowing Madrid have money to spend.

Elsewhere, meanwhile, Toni Kroos is set to retire from football after Euro 2024, meaning there will be a spot available for a new signing in Madrid’s midfield.

Ancelotti has admitted the door is open for the German to change his mind, but that seems unlikely at this stage.
